UPPER CERVICAL CHIROPRACTIC IN DALLAS, TX

Upper Cervical Chiropractic, a precise and non-invasive approach to spinal health and overall well-being. Unlike traditional Chiropractic methods that address the entire spine, Upper Cervical Chiropractic focuses exclusively on the alignment of the top two vertebrae in the neck—the atlas (C1) and axis (C2). These vertebrae play a crucial role in supporting the head and ensuring proper communication between the brain and body via the nervous system.

What is Upper Cervical Chiropractic?

Upper Cervical Chiropractic is grounded in the understanding that misalignments in the upper cervical spine can disrupt the nervous system, leading to a variety of health issues. By correcting these misalignments, we aim to restore balance to the body and promote natural healing. This highly specialized treatment involves precise adjustments that are gentle, safe, and tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Advanced Imaging with Cone Beam CT (CBCT)

To ensure accuracy in diagnosis and treatment, we utilize state-of-the-art cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging. CBCT provides three-dimensional, high-resolution images of the upper cervical spine, allowing us to:

Identify even the smallest misalignments or abnormalities.
Assess the exact angles and orientation of the atlas and axis vertebrae.
Develop a customized treatment plan based on detailed anatomical insights.

CBCT imaging is quick, non-invasive, and exposes patients to minimal radiation, making it a safe and effective diagnostic tool.

What to Expect During Treatment

Comprehensive Assessment

Your first visit begins with a thorough evaluation, including a detailed medical history, physical examination, and CBCT imaging.

Precise Adjustments

During you second visit we use advanced techniques, to perform gentle and targeted adjustments to correct your spinal misalignments. Unlike traditional chiropractic adjustments, these are often performed without the twisting or cracking commonly associated with spinal manipulation.

Monitoring and Follow-Up

We monitor your progress through follow-up appointments. Each visit will vary based on how the adjustments are holding. You will not receive an upper cervical adjustment every visit. The goal of these adjustments are long-term holding and stabilization. We may perform additional imaging to ensure the alignment is maintained and that you’re experiencing optimal results.

Conditions We Specialize In:

  • Migraines and Headaches

Misalignments in the upper cervical spine can put pressure on the brainstem and surrounding nerves, leading to migraines and chronic headaches. Correcting these misalignments often reduces the frequency and intensity of headaches, providing long-term relief.

  • Vertigo and Dizziness

The atlas and axis vertebrae play a critical role in maintaining balance. Misalignments in this area can disrupt signals to the brain, causing vertigo and dizziness. Gentle adjustments help restore proper balance and reduce symptoms.

  • Neck and Shoulder Pain

Upper cervical misalignments can cause muscle tension and nerve irritation, leading to chronic pain in the neck and shoulders. Precise corrections alleviate pressure on the nerves and muscles, promoting natural pain relief.

  • Sciatica

While sciatica originates in the lower back, upper cervical misalignments can contribute to postural imbalances that exacerbate nerve irritation. Addressing the upper spine can help alleviate sciatica symptoms and improve posture.

  • Back Pain

Upper cervical care focuses on spinal alignment, which can have a cascading effect on the entire spine. By correcting misalignments at the top, we can help reduce back pain and improve overall spinal health.

  • TMJ Disorders

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) relies on proper alignment of the neck for optimal function. Misalignments in the upper cervical spine can contribute to jaw pain, clicking, and other TMJ-related issues. Chiropractic care can help restore balance and alleviate discomfort.

  • Post-Concussion Syndrome

Following a concussion, upper cervical misalignments are common and can hinder recovery. By restoring proper alignment, we help reduce symptoms such as headaches, brain fog, fatigue and even Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

  • Fibromyalgia

Upper cervical chiropractic care has been shown to help manage symptoms of fibromyalgia by improving nervous system function and reducing overall pain and discomfort.

  • Trigeminal Neuralgia

Trigeminal neuralgia, characterized by severe facial pain, can be caused or exacerbated by nerve compression due to upper cervical misalignments. Precise adjustments help reduce nerve irritation and alleviate the debilitating pain associated with this condition.

  • High Blood Pressure

Studies suggest that upper cervical chiropractic adjustments can have a positive effect on blood pressure by reducing stress on the nervous system and promoting vascular health.
